Small Business Mediation

Are you, as a small business, experiencing issues between people in your organisation?

Perhaps you are experiencing personality clashes, bullying/discrimination/harassment claims, grievances or return to work disputes.

Small Business Mediation provides an informal and satisfactory method of resolving these disputes with staff or between business partners without having to resort to disciplinary/grievance/dismissal procedures or ending up with a case at the employment tribunal or small claims court.

Mosaic Mediation can help. Mediation is cheaper and quicker than going through legal processes - resulting in longer-term benefits, protecting professional relationships from irreparable damage, and it can positively influence the workplace culture. And, it may be that we have an alternative service or suggestion to mediation, which would also offer a satisfying resolution.

For small businesses with less than 5 staff members, we offer 'mediation by the hour' to make conflict resolution as accessible as possible.

(For larger businesses or more complex employment or workplace disputes, there is more information on the 'Workplace Mediation' page.)

Benefits of Using Small Business Mediation

  • Tackles the core issues - not just surface-level behaviours or problems

  • Quicker process than tribunal or court proceedings

  • Less stress and cost

  • Often results in improved professional relationships and a more positive working environment

More Information on Mediation

What happens if individuals - or the company - choose not to mediate?

  • Issues between individuals may continue to escalate and become more complicated

  • Attempts to resolve issues may only result in partial resolution - where some issues remain and continue to have a negative impact on the workplace and interactions

  • Unresolved issues and communication difficulties negatively affect the workplace environment and the culture of the organisation

  • Unresolved/partially resolved issues potentially resulting in:
  • Dismissal
  • Individuals resigning
  • Bringing a case to the Employment Tribunal

  • Breakdown of professional relationships between the organisation and their clients or supplier

  • Issues escalating to the point of a case being taken to the Small Claims Court

ANOTHER OPTION: Is for the party who wishes to mediate to have conflict coaching to help them manage the dispute and work through what has happened.

About Small Business Mediation

Resolve disputes with staff and clients

What you should expect

Individuals will be able to tackle the core issues, have an opportunity to be heard and to understand the other person, and explore options for a positive outcome - all of which leads to a better relationship between parties and issues being resolved.

Mediation reduces the likelihood of resorting to court proceedings to settle a dispute.

When the mediator has sufficient information on the situation, they will be able to advise on expected length of the mediation session.

Mediation fees are split equally between parties.

Price = £100 per person, per hour, for a Small Business mediation (minimum 2 hours). Mediations can be held online, by telephone or in-person.
