DISC Profiles in the Workplace

DISC is an effective communication upskilling tool - for individuals and Teams

What is ‘DISC’?

'DISC' is a method of profiling which enables individuals to become more self-aware about their motivations, behaviour, and communication tendencies, strengths and areas of focus for development. It is an incredibly simple and effective tool for improving communication skills and understanding how to relate to those with different styles.

  • Do you ever feel awkward when interacting with people?
  • Do you find certain traits irritating or confrontational?
  • Or do you sometimes find it difficult to work with certain people in your team at work?

Receiving a DISC profile (a quick online multiple-choice questionnaire) can help individuals or whole teams increase their self-awareness and understanding of other people by:

  • understanding how they may come across to other people
  • understanding how to effectively communicate with people who have different communication tendencies or working styles
  • building confidence through realising their strengths and natural behavioural traits
  • identifying how to adapt their communication to improve interactions with others

A Client's Journey

"After much consideration, a very emotionally and mentally challenging few years, it led me to be questioning my own personality, and ability to be heard how I wanted to be – whilst most importantly feeling I have always been the way I have, but now having people question my personality traits into something I didn’t feel they were. So, this led me on a path of investigating how best to explore my personality and behaviour traits in a non-confrontational or ‘full on’ manner. Where I would get full answers, and suggestions of improvement being clear but effective in communicating my traits - but most importantly, without being judged.

I discovered that Mosaic Mediation offered just this. I started the process by contacting Emma, who was very knowledgeable and comforting in her answers to both my questions and concerns. A sense of feeling of ‘finding out the unknown’ really is the best way I could describe the first emotions towards this task.

So, we went on to start the process, which was not as scary as it first seemed. A simple ‘choices’ questionnaire was emailed to me, with a basic account setup. Then a few days later, we booked a meeting to go through the results.

The results were very thorough – a clearly set out report, with both findings and suggestions of improvement to make me a person able to communicate effectively with people who didn’t share the same personality traits as me.

This was very helpful and to have it confirmed that it was OK to just be me. And that there were probably reasons, as documented in this, that others with different personalities than me would be interpreting me in the ways they were.

It began to make more sense. I quickly implemented the suggestions of how to change this. I found the whole process to be very simple, extremely effective – in both my own acceptance and to assist with communication with others. I found Emma very informative, easy to speak to with her caring manner and methods of explanation of the report. I would wholeheartedly recommend this report and Emma’s services to anyone in need of a boost of confidence in themselves. As well as for those who would like a more thorough look into who they are and how to be heard in a productive way by all types of people."
